Missives from Maestra: Open Project Day on 11/10/2025

Greetings to the Shire,

Great storms have come and gone to our south, and the winds of the coming winter begin to blow from the north. We’ll only be meeting once at the Lakeland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Wayne this month, on 11/10/2025, because the fourth Thursday will be Thanksgiving.

This will be an open project gathering, but because someone had expressed an interest in calligraphy, and they may or may not be present this Monday, I will bring a beginner’s calligraphy book I purchased at auction at Bjorn’s Ceilidh, just in case.

Monday 11/10/2025 from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Lakeland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
231 Parish Drive
Wayne, NJ 07470

Don’t forget to bring $5 to donate so we may do right by our hosts.

100 Minutes War

The Shire’s signature event comes apace, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, 11/22/2025. The theme for this year’s Arts & Sciences display is: Waning Sun, Waxing Moon. Bring your creative endeavors to show off the duality of light and dark, for one cannot exist without the other. This is a display, not a competition. Each participant will get a little thank you present from the Shire for their efforts.

Arts & Sciences Doings in the Surrounding Region

To our north and east, the Barony of Dragonship Haven is holding its annual St. Elegius Arts & Sciences Competition, 11/15/2025, the weekend before 100 Minutes War. It may be too short a notice to compete in this event, but it is never too late to just observe and ask questions and have interesting conversations. Were it not for prior commitments that almost always conflict, I would be there to observe, take notes, and have a good time taking and sharing notes.

At the service of your honors,

Ana de Guzman, OL
Minister of Arts & Sciences, Shire of Rusted Woodlands
