Come one, come all!
Rusted Woodlands invites you to our 5th Monday Potluck Feast & Fencing Tournament at our future martial practice home at Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake, NJ!!
Please bring food or drink to share, an abundance of merriment to go around, and we hope some of our local bards will gift us with song throughout the night to keep spirits high!
We will be doing fencing authorizations prior to the tournament, and there will be ample space and time for pick-ups before the tournament begins.
There is a scroll and prize for the tournament champion.
Percival has devised a special type of round-robin to mark the occasion and suggests that the more forms you are authorized in, the better your odds of survival will be. See the tournament details at the bottom of this event!
Garb is requested for this event. Loaner fencing gear is available.
This is a DRY site. There is no smoking or alcohol allowed on the premises. Please keep pets home unless it is a service animal.

5th Monday Fencing tournament format:
Round Robin using a D8 and D4.
D8 Forms:
- 1-single
- 2-sword and dagger
- 3-case
- 4-sword and rigid parry
- 5-sword and soft parry
- 6-two-hander
- 7-spear
- 8-your opponent chooses
Optional second roll for Spear using a D4:
- 1-spear and sword
- 2-spear and dagger
- 3-spear and rigid parry
- 4-spear and soft parry
Each fighter will roll a D8 to determine what form they use for each pairing. If they aren’t authorized in the form they roll, they automatically have to fight single.
If a 7 for spear is rolled, you have the option to stick with single spear or take a chance and roll a D4 to see what off-hand weapon you can use with it. If it is a secondary form you DON’T have, you need to stick with single spear AND you must choke up half the spear.
If there is a tie for first place at the end of the round robin, the winner is decided by best of three passes:
1- Daggers only
2-Single sword in non-dominant hand, no off-hand use allowed
3-Bring your best (two-hander & spear are excluded) – You will be in striking distance but are not allowed to move your feet.
All three final passes will be fought regardless of the outcome.
