Missives from Maestra (07/11/2025)

Greetings to the Shirefolk,

At our previous gathering on Thursday 06/26, our Webminister Fenneke Jans came by to assist in tracing out patterns onto the cut fabric for the making of Her Majesty Indrakshi II’s favors for the upcoming Pennsic War and other events as the reign’s days begin to wane.

It was my plan to finish tracing the remaining pieces of fabric for this coming Monday 07/14, but I received word from the good and gracious Elmet Herald Mistress Alys Mackintoich that she would be amenable to coming to our shire this coming Monday to teach a class on the Basics of Heraldry!

So if you wish to learn the building blocks of piecing together a coat of arms, or learn how to blazon those arms, come to our gathering place on Monday 07/14/2025 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at:

Lakeland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
231 Parish Drive
Wayne, NJ 07470

As always, a donation of $5.00 is requested so that we may do right by our hosts.

Novice Day is almost upon us! In addition to the martial component, there is a small group of classes being taught with newcomers/beginners in mind, and the third Magistra Isabeau d’Orleans Memorial Arts & Sciences competition, with a gorgeous scroll created by a friend of our beloved Isabeau, Sister K. of the Monastery of Saint Gabriel, as the grand prize to the overall winner, with two other prizes, the Laurels’ Prize and the Populace Prize to be given as well. If you do not hold a kingdom or baronial level Arts & Sciences award, bring your endeavor to be displayed. We wish to encourage our gentles to try their hands at creating things that make life beautiful and fine.

At the service of your honors,

M. Ana de Guzman, OL
Minister of Arts & Sciences, Shire of Rusted Woodlands
